Prostate fusion is recommended when the blood marker PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is rising, when previous examinations or tissue samples were unclear, or when an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan shows an area that needs very precise evaluation. It helps avoid unnecessary repeat procedures.
Fusion combines the strengths of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and ultrasound. MRI highlights suspicious areas that ultrasound alone may not show clearly. By merging the images, the radiologist can target the exact region of concern with higher accuracy.
